1. Data we process

• Account data: user ID, name, and email received when you choose Sign in with Apple or Google.
• Learning data: interface language, goals, level, progress, answers, mistakes, completed lessons, vocabulary, streak, and preferences.
• AI practice: tutor audio, transcripts, answer evaluations, lesson feedback, and short session summaries when you start an AI feature.
• Selected images: a photo you explicitly choose for a personal lesson or Spanish word scan. Images are processed for that request and are not saved in the learner profile.
• Purchase data: Barrio Plus status, product identifiers, remaining speaking time, and identifiers used to prevent duplicate crediting. Barrio does not receive card numbers or Apple ID or Google Play payment credentials.
• Technical data: push token, app interactions, crashes, performance, app version, platform, and advertising events or device information processed by Google AdMob in the free version.

2. Microphone, audio, and camera

The microphone is activated only after permission and only when you start a speaking exercise or tutor turn. Live tutor audio is sent to Google Gemini for recognition, response, and learning feedback. Barrio does not use voice for identity recognition, advertising, or creation of a voice profile.

The camera or photo library is used only after you open a feature that requires an image. A selected image is sent to Google Gemini for the requested lesson context or word recognition and is removed from the app’s temporary storage after processing.

3. Why data is used

Data is used to operate and sync accounts, save progress, personalize learning, provide AI lessons, maintain subscriptions and purchased minutes, send reminders you enable, show consented advertising to free learners, measure product use, and diagnose failures.

4. Service providers

• Google Firebase Authentication and Firestore for accounts and progress synchronization.
• Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for usage analytics and diagnostics.
• Google Gemini for clearly identified AI features, including the live tutor, personal lessons, audio generation, and selected-image analysis.
• RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play for subscription and purchase processing.
• Google AdMob for non-personalized rewarded ads shown to eligible free learners after the applicable consent choice. Ads are not shown to Barrio Plus learners.
• Expo, Apple Push Notification Service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for reminders you enable.

5. Storage and protection

Guest progress is stored locally on the device. After sign-in, account data and progress are synchronized with Firebase and access is restricted by account identity. Data is retained while an account is active and as necessary to operate, secure, and comply with legal obligations. Purchase providers may retain transaction records under their own policies and legal requirements.

6. Your choices

You may use Barrio as a guest, deny or disable camera, microphone, and notification permissions, change advertising privacy choices where available, manage or restore purchases, and delete your Barrio account from Profile. Account deletion removes the Firebase account, cloud learning progress, and saved AI session history. It does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
